For customers
Customer Terms of Use
These terms apply when you browse Southport Trades, contact a listed business or submit a free enquiry to participating local businesses.
Last updated: 30 August 2026
1. The Southport Trades service
Southport Trades is a local introduction and directory service. Customers can browse participating businesses, contact a business directly or submit one enquiry to participating businesses in a selected trade category.
Submitting a customer enquiry is free. Southport Trades does not charge the customer a lead fee or add a commission to a job.
2. Who can use the service?
You must be at least 18 years old, or have authority from the person responsible for the property or work, to submit an enquiry. You must provide information that is accurate to the best of your knowledge and must not use the service for unlawful, abusive, fraudulent or misleading requests.
3. What happens when you submit an enquiry?
Your enquiry is sent to eligible participating businesses in the trade category you select. The number of participating businesses may vary and each category is intended to have a maximum of ten active business members.
Businesses decide independently whether to respond. Southport Trades does not guarantee that any business will respond, quote, attend, be available or accept the work.
If no participating business is available in the category, the website will tell you that the enquiry could not be sent.
4. Your relationship with a business
Southport Trades makes the introduction only. Any discussion, survey, quotation, booking, contract, payment, warranty or work is agreed directly between you and the business you choose.
Southport Trades is not a party to that contract and does not receive commission on the work. You are responsible for deciding whether a business is suitable for your requirements.
5. Checks you should make
Where relevant to the work, you should make your own checks on identity, qualifications, registrations, insurance, references, warranties, pricing and any permissions or approvals required. Information shown on a member profile may have been supplied by the business and should not be treated as independently verified unless we expressly say it has been verified.
6. Your personal information
By submitting the enquiry form, you ask us to share the contact and job information entered in the form with participating businesses in the selected category so they can consider and respond to your request. Please read our Privacy Policy for full details.
7. Problems with a business or job
Questions or disputes about a quotation, appointment, payment or completed work should normally be raised directly with the business concerned. You may tell Southport Trades about a serious concern regarding a member, but we do not act as an arbitrator, insurer, trade regulator or guarantee scheme.
8. Availability and liability
We aim to keep the website available and information useful, but we cannot guarantee uninterrupted availability, search-engine rankings, the accuracy of every member-supplied detail or the availability of any business.
Nothing in these terms limits rights or liabilities that cannot lawfully be limited, including your statutory consumer rights. Subject to those rights, Southport Trades is not responsible for loss arising from the acts, omissions, advice, pricing or work of an independent listed business.
9. Changes and contact
We may update these terms as the service develops. If you have a question about Southport Trades itself, contact hello@southporttrades.co.uk or use the contact page.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you are a consumer, nothing in this section removes any mandatory rights you have to bring proceedings in another UK jurisdiction where applicable.
